400 Series Stainless Steel Plate
A 400 Series Stainless Steel Plate is a magnetic, iron-chromium alloy known for its heat resistance and durability. These plates feature good corrosion resistance and are often hardenable through heat treatment. Common materials include ferritic grades like 430 and 409L, as well as martensitic grades like 410 and 420. Their function suits a wide range of applications from automotive exhaust systems to cutlery and industrial machinery components.

Grade Differences
430 Stainless Steel Plate is a ferritic grade with 16-18% chromium, offering good corrosion resistance and formability for indoor applications . It cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
410 Stainless Steel Plate is a martensitic grade with 11.5-13.5% chromium, providing high strength and hardness through heat treatment . It offers moderate corrosion resistance.
420 Stainless Steel Plate is a higher-carbon martensitic grade with 12-14% chromium, achieving greater hardness after heat treatment for cutting applications . It has lower toughness than 410.
409L Stainless Steel Plate is a titanium-stabilized ferritic grade with 10.5-11.75% chromium, offering excellent weldability and oxidation resistance for high-temperature applications . It provides good formability.
Product Applications
You will find the 430 Stainless Steel Plate in kitchen equipment like sinks, dishwasher linings, and range hoods, as well as architectural trim and refrigerator panels . The 410 Stainless Steel Plate suits applications requiring strength and heat resistance, such as pump shafts, valve components, and turbine blades .
The 420 Stainless Steel Plate works well for cutlery, surgical instruments, and industrial knives where edge retention matters .
The 409L Stainless Steel Plate serves automotive exhaust systems including mufflers, catalytic converters, and tailpipes due to its high-temperature performance . We can customize surfaces to suit any application, from the brushed finish for elevator interiors to the bright annealed finish for automotive trim.
